Steps to Create drop down list in Excel

• Step 1: Enter the dropdown items in a separate sheet (or anywhere in your current sheet), then select the target cell(s) where you want the dropdown.
• Step 2: Go to the Data tab, and in the Data Tools group, click Data Validation. In the dialog box, under Allow, select List.
• Step 3: Click the Source field, and either:
  • Select the list of items you entered, or
  • Type the items directly, separated by commas (e.g., Yes, No, Maybe).
• Step 4 (Optional): Use a Named Range for your list if you want a cleaner formula (especially useful for long or reusable lists).
  Then click OK to create your dropdown.

Final Result: You now have a dropdown list in your selected cells. Clicking the small arrow will display the list of values you provided, making data entry more accurate and efficient.

Tip: If your dropdown list items might change over time, linking the source to a dynamic named range can save you from having to update the validation manually.
