Steps to Lock Cells in Excel

• Step 1: Press Ctrl + A to select the entire sheet. Then press Ctrl + 1 to open the Format Cells dialog.
  Go to the Protection tab, uncheck Locked, and click OK.
  This unlocks all cells first, so you can choose which ones to lock.
• Step 2: Select the specific cells you want to lock.
• Step 3: Press Ctrl + 1, go to the Protection tab, check Locked, then click OK.
• Step 4: Go to the Review tab, and in the Protect group, click Protect Sheet.
  Set a password (optional), then click OK.

Result: Only the selected cells will be locked and protected from editing.

Tip: Locked cells only take effect after you protect the sheet—until then, they behave like any other cell.
