Steps to update table of contents in Word

• Step 1: Make changes to your document
  for example, click on a heading like Heading 1 and update its text or formatting.
• Step 2: Go back to your table of contents.
• Step 3: Click on the Update Table button.
• Step 4: Choose Update entire table and click OK.

Tip: You can also right-click on the table of contents and select Update Field for the same result.
